Description
Monitoring and alert systems for debris flows use an integrated approach that monitors critical conditions that cause the instability and the flow of debris, the height of the front and the rate of erosion/deposition at some of the monitored sections. By tracking all parameters, the average speed of flows between two stations can also be estimated. Weather and landslide detection monitoring stations are installed along the entire flow passage channel in order to achieve these results. These solutions use sophisticated alarm logics, based on different precipitation scenario and different combinations of properly calibrated instruments clusters, ensuring extreme redundancy when detecting the flows, minimising the risk of false alarms. The alarm system can include various instruments such as sirens, traffic lights and bars in the area at risk, as well as a mobile message system to send pre-alerts when the set thresholds are reached.
