CAE heads to Mauritania

CAE, in partnership with a leading local company, has been awarded a contract for a project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of Mauritania under the PROGRES – Mauritanie FIDA program, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD/FIDA).

The project involves the supply, installation, and commissioning of 10 automatic synoptic weather stations located across the country, to strengthen the country's meteorological observation capabilities and support climate monitoring, natural resource management, and the prevention of risks associated with extreme weather events.

The network will be based on modern data acquisition and transmission technologies, using 4G/GSM communication systems and centralized infrastructure for the real-time collection and management of meteorological information. The stations will be equipped with CompactPlus dataloggers, together with sensors measuring air temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction, as well as rainfall accumulation and intensity. Remote control and diagnostic tools will also enable continuous performance monitoring and greater operational reliability.

The control center will use DatalifePlatform to manage and configure the network, and to display, monitor, and archive data. This information will also be transmitted to an existing web-based software platform, enabling data sharing and dissemination beyond the control center.

In addition to equipment supply, the project includes installation, configuration, staff training, and technical support services, providing staff with the skills needed to manage the network independently.

This award marks an important milestone for CAE and confirms the company's growing presence in Africa, where technologies for meteorological monitoring and climate resilience are playing an increasingly strategic role in sustainable regional development.
