CAE CHARGED BY THE SARDINIAN REGION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL RECOVERY OF THE REGIONAL WATER RESERVOIRS

June 2008

CAE is going to install 8 new floating stations for the real time hydro-meteorological and water quality monitoring, plus the data visualization centre, under commissioning of the Environmental Department of Cagliari.

This project represent the extension of the surface water quality monitoring network wanted by ENAS – Ente Aqua della Sardegna (the Sardinia Water Management Authority).

The contract, signed by the Company with the Sardinia Regional Authority on the 20th of June this year, follows the tender won by CAE in December 2007 and concerning the reservoirs of Flumendosa, Coghinas, Tirso, Liscia, Posada, Rio Sa Teula, Mannu and Rio Leni.

The new stations will integrate the existing network realized by CAE during 2004-05, allowing a more detailed hydro-meteorological and water quality monitoring at regional level. The result is a complex system in which monitoring of surface water quality, ground-water and rain are strictly inter-connected for the best effective management of water resources over the whole region.

The project is the result of the enduring collaboration between CAE and the Region of Sardinia, a working strategy launched years ago with the realization of the first set of floating station for the WQ profiling.

A tool set up by CAE for the real time monitoring of the quality of waters to derived from the Flumendosa river basin and sent to drinkable water production plants, that opened the way to a new valorisation of the regional hydro-meteorological resources.
