Sarno - 5 monitoring stations were installed to control the rains and their effects on the unfolding of the landslide

On May 4, 5 and 6 of 1998, having accumulated water for three consecutive days of rain, the walls of Mount Alvano gave way in 43 different locations downstream, pouring tons of mud, debris and trees. The mountain, with a peak of 1300 meters overlooks on one slope, the villages of Quindici and Vallo di Lauro, and on the other, those of Sarno , Siano and Bracigliano.

The villages below were devastated, many houses were destroyed, and unfortunately, many people lost their lives in the disaster.

In this scenario, CAE, appointed by the Prefecture of Naples, intervened urgently on the spot. In 8 days and in precarious conditions, 5 monitoring stations were installed to control the rains and their effects on the unfolding of the landslide, so as to enable the competent bodies to plan an emergency management strategy and avoid further damage to the population.
