Between 1st and 2nd of February 2014 the real time monitoring station installed by CAE on the Luna-A Platform of ENI S.p.A., in the deep water in front of Crotone, reported historical records for wave height in the seas around Italy.
Especially the ultrasonic wave meter and wind speed and direction sensors, which are parts of the system owned by ENI S.p.A., measured an extraordinary event. The waves topped 10.81 meters in height, while the wind speed, somehow correlated to the sea conditions at that time, peaked 24 m/s.
The National Institute for Environmental Prevention (ISPRA) manages an oceanographic buoy in the same area. Reference data published by the Institute are consistent with the measurement aboard the platform.
This performance is a further confirmation about the quality and robustness of the system supplied, installed and maintained by CAE. Regardless of the extreme weather and sea conditions, CAE systems operate to supply accurate and reliable data.
