    Tidal waves and coastal monitoring

Description

Monitoring system are used along the coastline for weather, climate and oceanographic studies. Coastal monitoring allows collecting significant information about the sea conditions, such as the average height of individual waves, the average height of the most significant waves (H1/3), the average interval of the most significant waves, the peak waves, the average interval of the peak waves and the direction and surface currents. This system guides the entrance of boats into the harbour and can be useful to support the analysis of coastal erosion and of the movement of sand banks along the sea floor due to surface currents.
